AE Fancy Dress is the third online shop brought to you by Alter Ego UK.
Alter Ego UK is the trading name of Laura Kortum. We just launched this online shop this year although the company is now almost 1 year old. Our first shop dealt with mainly Adult related items. We understand that not everybody may be comfortable shopping in that setting, so we decided to launch a completely new site just aimed at Dressing Up whether in private for your partner, or for a Fancy Dress Party / Clubbing. We are never happy just offering a small selection of products to our customers, because people have vastly different tastes. Therefore we aimed to cater to many if not all our prospective customers by offering a catalogue of almost 1000 products to choose from!
So you may wonder how we can offer so many products for sale. All our stock is kept at our wholesaler’s warehouse. From there the products get shipped straight to your doorstep. Because of this, we didn't need to invest in large premises upon starting this company, and can offer a lot of variety from the start. This approach also reduces our overhead costs, therefore allowing us to offer you very competitive prices!
We make it a point to deal with all orders on a personal level. Care is taken to ensure enquiries are answered in time, and you can also contact us by phone, should you want to.
Genuine Branded Items
From our entire catalogue, the vast majority is branded. Some of the brands we sell are J Valentine, Leg Avenue, BeWicked etc. Some of the items are unbranded, and they will clearly be marked as such.
Especially amongst the Fancy Dress costumes, some of the designs are copied a lot and still marketed as the real thing. This happens a lot with some of the Leg Avenue costumes as well as J Valentine costumes. You might see a product with an image identical to one we have on the website on Ebay, or elsewhere costing half of what we sell the genuine item for. Many of those cheap deals are exactly what you pay for; cheap copies of a branded costume, and to make it look appealing, the original image provided by the Brand, is used to sell the costume. When you buy such items, you may find that upon receipt the costume looks a bit different from the photograph.
All items we mark as branded are completely genuine, imported directly from the manufacturers abroad, or their official distributors. If you use comparison websites, you will see that our pricing is very reasonable, considering you are getting a high quality branded item. If you find the same thing (or something with the same picture) for a much lower price, have a good look at the website - does it mention the brand? If not, it is a copy. If you believe you have found the exact same item at another website for a much lower price, let us know, and we may be able to match the price (IF it is genuine!).
Large Order? Item out of stock?
Do let us know if you would like to place a large order, maybe for a party or event. Maybe our website does not show sufficient items in stock. In this case please contact us; in order not to disappoint customers and ensure quick delivery, we always keep our stock levels on the website a bit conservative.

Discontinued Items
If there are availability problems with any products we previously offered on our website, we may decide to (temporarily) remove them from our catalogue until they are in good supply. So, if you have seen an item you want and later on come back to us, only to notice it is no longer on our website, this may be because it is out of stock or had some sort of other supply problem. Rather than disappoint our customers, we would rather limit our catalogue.
